Designing / R&D Ecosystem:

VLSI Initiative :

The fabrication/manufacturing activity is to be preceded by VLSI/Fabless chip designing activity. After the designing, the tape out/fabrication will happen in the Fabs. Further finished products will be packaged and tested before getting delivered to the customers. As per an estimate, to cater to a Fab, around 50 to 100 designing houses are required. We have initiated a program to promote such activity. The initiative is rallied around the concepts of a VLSI Academy, to nurture the Human Resources in VLSI Concepts, an Incubation platform to promote startups by providing critical resources and a VLSI Park to mobilize VLSI related industries. A ‘Consultative committee’ has been instituted representing industry to advise on the program.

Status:
  • Under the VLSI academy program so far 300 students have been trained with the intervention of industry and placements were provided to 283 students by the company and an ‘Exposure training’ program has been rolled out with the help of industry and more than 8.5 lakh students have been benefited.

  • An Incubation program has been designed to support the start-ups in Fabless/VLSI chip design activity. It is developed as a virtual concept with the absolute participation of the industry. The platform is named as T- FACE (Telangana – Fabless Accelerator through Cloud Enablement) and is inaugurated on 16th, September, 2021 by Hon’ble Minister for ITE&C Department during the launch of 2nd ICT Policy for 2021-26 and so far 15 startups in happening technologies could be mobilised.

  • VLSI Park initiative is being designed to accommodate VLSI and related industries including EDA Companies. The Industry through IESA (Indian Electronics and Semiconductors Association) Hyderabad Chapter is helping in rolling out.

Quantum Initiative :

Quantum Technology is emerging as a viable alternative computing paradigm which is capable of changing the computing fundamentals. Photonics is an inevitable part of Quantum approaches. Entire gamut of Quantum Communications is based on Photonics communications and Photonics based Quantum Computers emerged as serious contenders to provide stable Quantum computing at room temperature. We have initiated a program to promote the industry in the state.

Status:
  • Under Quantum Computing an ‘Exposure training’ program has been rolled out with the help of industry and more than 60,000 students have been benefited. The program has been conducted in collaboration with TASK and TSAT

  • A virtual start up platform has been conceived as part of VLSI platform and few startups are mobilised.

  • Four POCs have been identified and with the help of Consultative committee DPRs have been developed. They have been communicated to GOI and NiTI Aayog for funding.

  • Various seminars and conferences have been conducted and also participated to proliferate the significance of Quantum technologies.

  • Participated in the Quantum Mission’s activity of implementation DPR and offered the state as one of the COEs for Quantum technologies. At the moment, Telangana has been identified as one of the active states in the space of Quantum technologies.
